‘Williamson has no peer in depicting modern life.’ – The Age
‘Rupert Murdoch is the most admired–and feared–media mogul of all time.’ – Business Review Australia
Rupert is an unconventional, revue-style exposition of the life and times of Rupert Murdoch – the most powerful media magnate in modern history.
Starring American film and television actor JAMES CROMWELL (star of Babe and Six Feet Under) as Rupert Murdoch alongside an all Australian cast who play a myriad of over 60 roles. TV comedy icon JANE TURNER (star of Kath & Kim) plays Dame Margaret Thatcher, DANIELLE CORMACK (Wentworth and Rake) is Anna Murdoch, and GUY EDMONDS (Underbelly and Holding the Man) plays Young Rupert.
Watch as Rupert tap-dances his way through his first newspaper acquisitions, discos towards his American breakthrough, shares a fiery flamenco with Margaret Thatcher and charms some of the most colourful characters of the 20th Century in his rise to the top.
But what happens when the man behind the news suddenly becomes the news?
